Servings: 4

Ingredients

For the French Toast:

  • 8 slices of whole grain bread (preferably a day or two old for better texture)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (low-fat or whole)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (for cooking)

For Serving:

  • ΒΌ cup honey

Directions

Prepare the Egg Mixture:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

Preheat the Pan:

  1. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt, coating the surface of the pan.

Cook the French Toast:

  1. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated but not overly soaked.
  2. Place the coated bread slices onto the preheated skillet.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside. Add more butter to the skillet as needed for subsequent batches.

Prepare the Honey:

  1. While the French toast is cooking, gently warm the honey in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave for about 10 seconds, just until it is easier to pour.

Serve:

  1. Stack 2 slices of French toast per plate.
  2. Drizzle warm honey over the top.
