8 slices of whole grain bread (preferably a day or two old for better texture)
4 large eggs
1 cup milk (low-fat or whole)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter (for cooking)
For Serving:
ΒΌ cup honey
Directions
Prepare the Egg Mixture:
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
Preheat the Pan:
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt, coating the surface of the pan.
Cook the French Toast:
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated but not overly soaked.
Place the coated bread slices onto the preheated skillet.
Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside. Add more butter to the skillet as needed for subsequent batches.
Prepare the Honey:
While the French toast is cooking, gently warm the honey in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave for about 10 seconds, just until it is easier to pour.
